Step 1 - Registration



Torfaen Homeseeker has developed an application form for those wishing to register for housing, this is also available at our offices and on the web.

All applicants will be required to provide information enabling us to verify the contents of their application to ensure accuracy and eligibility.

Verification can be undertaken in a number of ways with our housing partners and professional advocate/agency, and where necessary by a home visit.

Following verification, the application will be considered  ‘live’ and registered from the initial date the application was first received by Homeseeker. Advice or assistance is available free of charge to anyone experiencing difficulty with the application form or process from the team.

Each applicant following registration will be allocated a unique reference number to identify their effective date of registration, their priority band and property size eligibility.

You must advise us in writing if there are any changes in your circumstances in order for us to reassess your application and if necessary make changes to your band and eligibility.

Property Size

You will only be eligible for properties that are suitable for the size of your family. The following table tells you how we normally decide on the number of bedrooms that applicants are eligible for.

It is normal practice for housing providers to maximise the occupancy of their housing stock.

If you are disabled then you are eligible to bid for appropriately adapted properties within this matrix. Where bungalows are mentioned it refers to disabled non adapted  properties.

*Where child, this refers to at least 1 dependent child. Applicants with households where there are no dependent children will not be offered houses except in exceptional circumstances.
